Creating a 32bit DSN on a 64bit Windows machine

When installing vSphere on a 64bit Windows host in x86 compatibility mode, a 32bit Data source name (DSN) is required for the database connection. If a DSN has been set up through Start > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC), the vSphere installer cannot detect it.

 

The 64bit ODBC Administrator tool can be used to manage user DSNs and system DSNs that are used by 64bit processes. For 32bit datasources, the 32bit ODBC Administrator tool is used for Windows on Windows 64 (WOW64) processes.

 

To set up a 32bit DSN, launch the 32bit version of the Data Source Administrator. It is located at:

• For Windows 2008: %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64\Odbcad32.exe
• For Windows 2003: %systemdrive%\Windows\SysWoW64\Odbcad32.exe 
• For Microsoft SQL Server database servers, install the SQL Native Client from Microsoft Server media or Microsoft download. For more information, see the Configure a SQL Server ODBC Connection section in the ESX Server Installation Guide.
• For Oracle database servers, install the 32bit database ODBC drivers. For more information about setting up an Oracle connection, see the Configure Oracle Databases section in the ESX Server Installation Guide.

The vSphere installer can now detect the DSN and continue installation.

 

Note: You can install the Update Manager server only on 64bit machines. However, Update Manager is a 32bit application and requires a 32bit DSN.

Unable to Launch Published Applications from XenApp 6.x

You are unable to open published applications from XenApp 6 and the following error messages are displayed:

“Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp server.
The Citrix XenApp servers are reporting full load and cannot accept your connection at this time.
Try to connect again after a few minutes. If you continue to receive this message, contact your Citrix administrator.”

“Unable to Launch your application, Contact your help desk with the
following information: Cannot connect to the Citrix XenApp server.

Protocol Driver error”

Cause

Several configuration options might prompt these errors.

There may be important XenApp connection ports (1494, 2598, etc.) that need to be opened on the firewall

Раскладка по умолчанию на экране приветствия Windows

Параметры реестра, отвечающие за раскладку клавиатуры при входе в систему находятся в разделе

Там надо на первую позицию поместить желаемую раскладку - 00000409 (английская раскладка) или 00000419 (русская).

2. Вы можете внести в реестр необходимые параметры, выполнив следующие команды

выделенный красным параметр можно менять (1 - ALT+SHIFT, 2 - CTRL+SHIFT). Чтобы переключение работало, необходимо наличие как минимум двух раскладок. См. пункт 2.
